(91) The Long Road to Recovery

12/04/23 08:27

It’s more than just a physical recovery.  I ran the Paris marathon over a week ago.  I’ve not been for a run since.  I’ve had a little jog to the shops but that’s all there’s been.  So yes, it’s more than a physical recovery.  That recovery is slowly taking shape.  But the mental, or emotional, recovery is probably twice as hard.  Knowing that I’m going to be putting my body under duress again, willingly, isn’t something that my 06:30 self looks forward to.  Or can commit to.  Not yet.

The same is said for my creativity.  Yes, I’ve written three entries since the 26-mile event finished but that was because I was on a Parisian boulangerie high with the memories at my fingertips (and once whilst waiting for the 5-hour Eurostar train ride home which I may cover later, along with the other bits and pieces from this and prior Paris trips).  I’ve not had the time to truly get down and write as I’ve been busy catching up with family, having the boys, seeing Nev, getting ready for the Isle of Wight rugby tour next week and buying myself a Chromebook.

I figured I’d give it a go and try and help with the “less to carry around and easier to type on” approach to getting back on track.  With the writing, not the running, that is.
