Nothing says Paris preparations like a quick trip to A&E. A tackle that I received during a pre-season friendly rugby match has left my left shin bruised, my right shin injured and my “boob bone” feeling rather painful. So, here I am, on the Tuesday before the Sunday of the London half-marathon plus extra family mile sitting, waiting for the notified time-slot that the telephone NHS service booked me for. I don’t think the rib and leg injuries are directly connected, other than by method of collection.

I’m looking at heading to Paris in November. I’ve had another possible positive booking and that’s amazing news. There are a few others that I still want to get but I shouldn’t get ahead of myself. I’ll either have nobody to chat to for the podcast or they’ll all be too time-sensitive that I’ll put myself under too much pressure to get them out on time – maybe a quick rethink would be in order. Also, too many in one trip could be counter-productive – I’m still trying to get enough courage to work out how to approach random strangers for a 5-minute Coffee Pot Conversation to help fill space. Would there be a set of questions that I’d ask, play it by ear or have a whole heap of seasoned questions that I could fire off? And I’ll need a way to record who I’ve recorded – if they allowed such things. Unless I’m overthinking everything whilst trying to ignore this chest pain.
