(112) An Interview That WILL Change My Life

27/03/24 08:20

Clapton.  Early start today.  I mean, not proportionately early, but early enough to catch the 0748 to Liverpool Street from Highams Park, alight at Clapton and walk to The Full English, order, change pen ink cartridges and then start to write.  I’m about an hour and a half early for an interview for a job that may, or may not, change my life.  Indeed, on that logic, this interview will change my life, regardless.  It already shows my worth.  Somebody wants me and my brain to assist them.  Only now, and very slowly, are my current employers noticing me.  I have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s, I’ve started a podcast and have kept a blog for over 4 years, I am the on-site IT guy, the go-to man for any issues relating to the premises as well as my current knowledge and expertise in the role I hold.  Is it recognised?  Not in a valuable way, no.  And this is one reason why the blog, podcast and every little detail in my life is so important.  I need to find a way out.  I need to be identified as an asset, to help, to assist. Not to be a space-filler.  There’s more to life than simply rocking up to a desk, tapping on a keyboard, repeating and seeing no reward or gain.

Podbean, my ‘platform’ of choice isn’t actually hosting my podcast but it does have the live section.  And that’s amazing.  I doubt it’ll be the route that gets me my on-line recognition, but it could very well be the springboard into a higher level of collaboration.  If I advertise live podcast broadcasts, via Instagram, I could get more people interested in the spoken word and from there, people with interesting input would step forward and either a new episode or a new interview would occur; possibly being beneficial to both parties (as well as to those listening).  Or I’ll keep getting Iranian listeners on their phones as the sun sets.

In the meantime, I need to update the blog – I’ve just noticed that Podbean has posted my podcast episode, 1.6 Casablanca, to the blog site on WordPress.  I need to investigate this and see whether I can add the photo of the episode as well as prior episodes.  Written word is only up to December ‘23.  Actually, this is only the second entry this year.  I need to do better with this.  I can’t let one thing slip as a result of other projects.  I need to manage my projects better.  I wonder if I could get a training course on this?
