Even before I take this small 3D printed Kickstarter fountain pen out of the No. 1 Daddy as Voted for by Rory and Jasper pen tin, my eyes are playing up. It could be because I’ve been awake for over 3 hours already. Or the lighting in the office kitchen. The lenses or the prescription from Specsavers? Who can honestly say, these days?
Still, tomorrow sees Nev leaving for Thailand for 10 days on a work/leisure trip and then the following day, Wednesday 19th February, I’m returning to Paris. I have much left to do. Packing clothes (my new hoodie and sweatshirt are arriving today), cameras, handles and clamps plus power banks, cables and my writing gear. Am I going to purchase a new fountain pen? I’m not sure. I found an article that I shall be reading on the Eurostar. The issue is, I can’t actually find it at the minute.
My trip is looking like another ‘off-the-cuff’ job. I have a few ideas in my mind. Things like recording the outro for the podcast by the Eiffel Tower and timing it right, and filming it properly, to catch the twinkles. This may take some doing. And planning. And multiple takes. And downloading SD cards.
I also want to hit Deux Magots, Le Flore and Lipp for historical culture and myth-busting. I’d like to get a video around the Acadamie Française and bits of Saint Germain (where the venues are). I also found an article of a little village within Montmartre; another article that needs to be found. This village is a distance from where I’m staying in the 16th so I’ll wait and see.
I’d like, and actually need, to get my haircut. I will aim to do this whilst in Paris and whilst filming. Hopefully I’m allowed. Even if it costs me a badge and a business card. Nev’s asked for a black beret, Rory for some Monoprix chocolate and Jasper doesn’t really know, yet. Myself, I’m simply after a rest, a break, some vast amount of recorded material and some amazing photos and writing pieces. I’m not fully worried about the photos; I’m not taking my Camp Snap as it’s one less thing I’ll need to carry on me.
I will be doing, purposely, multiple takes of the intro but my camera is the fact I’ll be schlepping around my bags. But with the selfie stick on the Pocket 3, it hopefully won’t look too bad at the multiple sites that I’ll quite possibly be visiting. These could be the intro slots for my more reasons to come. Or I’ll do new ones every year.
