In this episode recorded on Sunday, 5th August 2023, we fall knee-deep into my eldest’s perceptions of what it means to be a guest on my show. We cover a handful of topics ranging from his schooling to his thoughts on the difference between a Paris break and a holiday in Ibiza.
A few of the points that I need to raise on this page to put the record straight and make things a little clearer are here:
- As I said in the intro, there were a reported 1 million people in the Champs Élysées for New Year’s Eve
- The “fake champagne” was Champomy and we’ve still not had the bottle we have at home for after I completed the Paris running trilogy
- I studied Spanish for 2 years before continuing to take another 2 years for my exams
- Southend (now a city) is on the east coast of England – it’s a regular location for Londoners to hit the beach on sunny days
- Marta was the name of the lady at the Ibiza beach bar – which was actually the hut next to the swimming pool
- Casey Laulala is the rugby player turned restaurant owner (in rue Saint-Denis) (re)turned (to New Zealand) real-estate agent
- The Wales v England rugby match resulted in a 20-9 scoreline
- Our hotel on our first visit was Hotel Saint-Pierre, which Rory always calls HSP
- The hotel where I spoke to the receptionist after the Paris Half Marathon was Hôtel du Brabant
